I will tell you! It's because getting an ice cream cone may appear to be a simple, small thing; not a lot of $$$ if you just get a scoop - of course you could venture into the sundaes and buckets and flights and so on....but I digress. It may seem to be a small amount of money, but as with so many things in life, when multiplied by many friends you invite to join you at an independent creamery or small shop.....the effect can be BIG. We - our circle of peeps - have a fondness for ice cream. We check out local places together, meet up and hang out, always posting pics and shoutouts on social media and inviting others to make the switch to a real small business, with actual people. GUESS WHAT!?
Over time our band of merry frozen dessert lovers has grown, and what started out as meeting with a few friends....well, the most recent one last month was 28 people, across 4 generations! yes, we took a group photo, tagged each other, probably annoyingly blew up the shop's Facebook page, but there's something cool about meeting up with your tribe at real places where the owner comes out and gives everyone a hug. <3 That's real. Not a chain. And that's why something as humble as inviting a friend to meet you at a locally owned farm stand, old fashioned ice cream parlor, make-your-own-sundae kind of place....is just a sweet thing.
