Sobering thoughts upon reading this letter and petition for change from a concerned citizen in New Mexico. I couldn't help but relate to the frustration so many of us feel too! "Dear Governor Lujan Grisham (New Mexico), As your administration continues to take action to decrease the spread of the Corona-virus, we as small business owners (and the families of those working for these business) are at or nearing a point of no return. To put it bluntly: Your decisions are destroying the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands in our state who own or work for small businesses. We simply cannot continue under these harsh restrictions." Monday, April 21st: such emotion in this post from Bob’s Tackle Shack in Grove, Oklahoma! They are SO FREAKIN' HAPPY to be reopening that I could almost feel their excitement leap off the Facebook page.
Later in the day - after reopening - I could cry for them. THAT is community love and people supporting each other. THIS is what we can all use more of. Post via Bob’s Tackle Shack | Grove, Oklahoma
Editor’s Letter: Let’s Make ‘Shop Local’ A Viral Sensation This was another great article I came across which speaks volumes: "As horrific as is the lingering COVID-19 pandemic, the proliferation of fast fashion chains, outlet shopping, department store price-cutting and online retail behemoths have proven to be viruses in themselves, decimating local independent stores well before Coronavirus hit."
