Support Your Community This Mother’s Day

Mother's Day is almost here and of course, you want something wonderful and sweet for Mom. Keeping in mind that due to our current pandemic situation some places may be a bit limited in choices or shopping options, however, most small businesses are offering creative solutions to make your mission super easy!

Even limited hours or restrictions on the amount of people in a store, etc, shouldn't stop us from supporting independent retailers.

Why not check out your independently-owned flower shop website and pick out a few gorgeous arrangements? Maybe email mom's favorite bookstore to find out what they have in stock - or call the local garden center to have an array of springtime seeds and plants delivered?

Small business fuels the local economy - and now is the time when local store owners would be really grateful for your support. Almost two months of lockdown in so many areas has been devastating for them and it's worth making a little extra effort to show them some love this week, don't you think?

Remember the real value of buying locally is putting your money where it works best - right in your own city or town. Helping to maintain a wonderful and healthy community by keeping the mom and pop businesses around builds a better place for everyone.

Thoughtful, one of a kind gifts which cannot be found in every department store - handcrafted or locally-made artwork - those are sure to be a valued item for your mom to open on Sunday. It's easy to avoid buying the same thing as everyone else - just go visit an independently-owned retailer this week.

We must really consider carefully the choices we're making each day. Who do you really want to support with your spending? I'm going to suggest that especially right now we can help make a difference when we choose to buy local.

Contribute to the community where you live by picking out something memorable for mom this week at a small business. Support of our local neighborhood florists, shops and restaurants is the best way to say "I care that you're here", while at the same time helping to select a gift with meaning. Happy Mother's Day!
