I think some of the ways in which we can work to ensure this outcome is by continuing to be a legendary, familiar and reassuring presence in the lives of our neighbors and friends, customers and clients. During what was to me, the darkest months of the pandemic (for many reasons which I hope to be able to write about one day), some of the brightest spots in life were stopping at a small and familiar business to pick up needed items. Yes, things were different, often I couldn't go inside but would place an order outside on the sidewalk, have a brief conversation from 10' away and then a smiling person would bring items out to the car. Limited yes, but there was still the calming presence of good people I'd come to know and depend upon, and I have no doubt that over and over, you all have provided those meaningful little connections with members of your community.
Let's keep being little beacons of hope and light in our zip codes and states. This won't last forever but for as long as it takes I know YOU are making the world a better place. #smallbusinessislife
