Spend The Green Where You Live | A Local St. Patty's Day

The words "Spend Local" are far more than just a statement or a buzz phrase. They represent the choices we have, the decisions we make and an ongoing commitment to contribute to the overall health of our city or town. By carefully selecting where we use our dollars each week, month and year, we are participating in a conscious lifestyle to support the places that matter the most.

Our daily actions have far more impact than merely a single lunch or dinner or store purchase, because each time we show up to a mom and pop establishment we are creating a habit and a rhythm in our lives. This is about more than just our preferences as it also visibly demonstrates to others that we believe in our shop owners and proprietors and feel the value of maintaining such connections. If visiting the Stargate Diner or spending an afternoon at Shenanigans Pub influences our friends in any way to come join us and experience true local flavor of our town, that's a win for everyone and is not an impact to be taken lightly.

Download, share and repost the graphics below to spread the word that small businesses are important to keep around. Add them to your social media channels, share with customers and friends and help us to spread the message about valuing our independents this holiday.

Along with retail shopping, there are bakeries and breweries, restaurants serving up traditional corned beef and cabbage and pubs to enjoy.

Direct your dollars to local business owners by planning an annual get-together at a locally-owned eatery or pub. Friends in town for the holiday or weekend? Suggest touring an independent brewery and enjoying lunch at a family-owned favorite than a chain restaurant.

Why not book a designated driver or party bus to shuttle your band of friends around in style?

Our beloved businesses need our participation, and when we support them they can continue to thrive and flourish.

If you are a local shop owner why not take the lead on encouraging area businesses to come together for a celebration, scavenger hunt or joint promotion?

Vote for the small businesses in your community by spending more green with them. It's a good feeling and a contribution we can all make. Happy St. Patty's Day!
