Much of our decision making and buying takes place impulsively and/or at the last minute, right? What if we decided this year to kick that habit to the curb and instead plan to spend more thoughtfully, such as by selecting businesses who actually care who you are, or purchasing fewer but higher quality items? I remember one year our family decided to exchange only handmade gifts and it was an excellent learning experience in finding out that a whole slew of plastic junk from walmart simply didn't mean as much as one truly special piece made by a real person.
Hmmm. We just never know what might develop from making a few simple changes, do we? Just maybe it's worth flipping our perspective this year to find out. At the very least, your kids could learn some valuable lessons about choices, decision making and that whole "less is more" thing).
